Kiama High School offers a number of extracurricular activities for students from year 7 to 12.
Instrumentalists
For instrumentalists there is a concert band and a stage band. These groups perform at school functions, such as open night, presentation assemblies and other important events. The bands also perform as part of the community, at festivals, ceremonies and local events.
The school bands also tour both inner and interstate, performing to school and community audiences, often working with other ensembles.
Schools vocal ensemble
The schools vocal ensemble is a very talented group of singers who perform in the acapella (unaccompanied) style of vocal music. The vocal ensemble perform at school events and also represent the school at the Sydney Town Hall, Opera House, and are regularly featured in Schools Spectacular as pre-show entertainment. Students are auditioned in term 4 each year.
Instrumentalists and vocalists are also encouraged to participate regionally, in events such as the Illawarra South East Regional Performing Ensemble, South Coast Music Camp (held each year in term 3) and Southern Stars. Also, to state level, with State Music camp, and Schools Spectacular.
Dance ensemble
Kiama High School also boasts a very strong dance ensemble. Students rehearse at lunch times and some during sport time. The students involved in the dance group are self-motivated and are encouraged to help with choreography.
