Kiama High School has produced a number of highly driven and self-motivated students with outstanding talents over the years.
Sally Fitzgibbons
Sally Fitzgibbons (born 19 December, 1990) is a professional surfer. Growing up in Gerroa, New South Wales, Sally attended Kiama High School from 2003 to 2007.

Kiama High School was a fantastic High School to attend. Not only do they nurture and encourage students to be active and be involved in sport but it has top academic and creative arts programs. I always found school fun and had a go at most extra curricular activities which helped me expand my views and potential.
I am thankful for the support of the teachers and other students while absent on my many sporting trips. Becoming Dux of the school in Year 10 is still an achievement I am proud of today. 😁
Being a professional surfer is the greatest job in the world. The ocean is my office, nature is my business partner, and surfing as a sport is going through a growth period. Being a part of elite women’s surfing right now is such a privilege. It’s been a wild ride so far, and I can’t wait to see what’s around the corner.

Congrats on living in one of the world’s most beautiful spots. I have travelled to all ends of the globe and Kiama is very hard to beat. On top of that it has a great school and right now is your opportunity to make a decision you will never regret.
Figure out what it is that you want to do for the rest of your life, believe you’re worthy of it and get busy practising it. The more you practise the better you will become, and ultimately the better you become will determine your future.
No matter where life will take you: sports, law, medicine, construction, inventions, it doesn’t matter. You name the job; the better you are academically the better your chances are of success and ultimately being paid more than the person standing beside you.
What may seem hard now is minor to the commitment it takes to consistently be your best and achieve your dreams. You get out of life what you put into it. If you want the best then work the hardest. It’s a small internal battle but wrap your head around it — you got this!
You’re in a paradise location, so make the most of a critical part of your life, your education. If you blow it, it will just slow you down and make the time from now until when your dreams comes true take longer. So have fun, work hard, play hard, be kind to everyone period, and you may one day make your dreams a reality.
If I influence one teenager to make some sacrifices and focus on being successful then I will be stoked. There is an entire world out there full of opportunities calling your name, you must be willing to step out of your comfort zone to achieve what you are capable of. So prepare for a personal battle in every way for everything you are capable of and NEVER give up!
Remember: people do business with people they like, so be nice. If you’re not nice you better hope you’re the best; even then you may fall short. I wish you well. You can be anything you want to be, you just have to dream it, believe it and do it. Don’t let me down!
