Update for Parents

The senior executive would like to thank parents for their support in maintaining the health and wellbeing of staff and students at Kiama High School. These are very uncertain times for us all and we are doing our very best to evolve with the quickly changing information and also support all students in their ongoing learning.

Our current advice is as follows:

The NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian communicated via the media that schools are to remain open but where possible, parents should keep their children home.

The Premier has informed there will be one single unit of teaching for children at school and at home, with teachers utilising online learning tools. Regardless of whether your child attends school or not, they will learn via an online platform. This is to support the staff in the preparation and delivery of lessons as well as maintain the social distancing requirements for good health management in our school.

If students are at home, parents are responsible for them. Please ensure that they keep up to date with their school work. Routine continues to be important for them so please ensure they are logging in to and completing their lessons, communicating with their teachers and submitting any tasks that are due via online platforms. Aim to keep these within the regular school hours.

We are using:

Google Classroom, Zoom, Adobe Connect, Edrolo, Education Perfect, Microsoft Teams and email. Many staff have already sent home emails to parents and students to communicate log in codes, instructions and other requirements.

It is very important to maintain some normality for our senior students as the terms ahead unfold. Assessment tasks are going ahead today, as planned for senior students. If there are any concerns, please call the school to outline your individual case. The school is accommodating all student needs as they arise and are communicated to us.

The school will continue to send links for learning and wellbeing, further information on daily operations and lesson updates. We have laptops available for loan if you need to borrow one for your child. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any further concerns.
